Angels visit Fenway

After rain on Friday, the Red Sox will finally host the Angels at Fenway today, playing a make-up doubleheader.  Here are some facts to drop on friends while you watch the game –

  • Since May 27th the Angels have lost seven of  ten games, previous to that they had won eight games straight.
  • Sam Horn is in Autograph Alley at Fenway Park before today first game of the doubleheader, Horn hit .223 with 16 home runs between 1987-1989. Ka-pow!
  • Oil Can Boyd will be appearing in Autograph Alley before the second game, Boyd pitched with the Red Sox for 8 seasons, winning 60 games.
  • Only two players on the Red Sox have hits against the Angels game one starter Tommy Hanson, Stephen Drew and David Ortiz. Dustin Pedroia is 0-3 with one ground into double play.
  • David Ortiz is 1-13 (.077) against the Angels game two starter CJ Wilson.
  • Mike Napoli, Dustin Pedroia and Jonny Gomes have all homered off Wilson in previous appearances.
  • Clay Buchholz will look to win his 9th game of the season and improve on his league leading 1.62 ERA.
  • Albert Pujols has a career .667 Batting Average against Buchholz
